Family, friends and fitness are all considered to be more important than money for a happy old age. In fact, Singaporeans topped the study in terms of wanting to spend time with friends and family. Out of all 20 countries surveyed, a greater percentage of Singaporean respondents than other countries identified close relationships as an extremely important factor.
“Having loving family and friends are important during one’s later years”
Singaporeans feel more strongly than anyone else that loving family and friends are extremely important to a happy old age.
“Keeping fit is extremely important to achieve a happy old age”
People from Singapore and Hong Kong feel strongly that fitness is key to a healthy and happy retirement.
Ideally, Singaporeans would like to live near their families, amenities and friends. In land-scarce Singapore, this means people would have to plan early so that they can freely choose where they want to live in retirement.
