Families define who we are.
In every age group when asked “when you think of who you are, you think mainly of…”, the largest response was my family for approximately 68% in each age group.
 
“When people are asked what they think in terms of who they are,
a large majority say 'my family'”
 
Family and self-reliance were the top two sources of retirement income amongst those who have retired.
More than 76% of those above the age of 60 years old received financial support from their children in the last six months.
With numerous factors contributing towards the decline in family size in Singapore3, it is apparent why Singaporeans have indicated self-reliance as the other main source of retirement income.

Financial preparedness in the later years.
Being able to cope financially in retirement is not a big concern globally. However in Singapore, more than 50% across all age group are concerned about not having sufficient funds in their retirement.
