Efficiency tips

Using paper more effectively

  Minimise photocopying, faxing and printing
Use both sides of the paper when printing and photocopying
Use the book printing option so that four pages of text can fit on one sheet of paper
Reduce font size and margins to fit more text on a page or use the 'shrink to fit' option on your word processor
Use the correct size of packaging to avoid unnecessary packing paper/boxes
Reuse envelopes/packaging for internal post by attaching new labels to them
Use a stick-on label instead of a cover sheet when faxing
Put out separate collection boxes to remind workers to reuse waste paper that has been printed on one side and recycle paper that has been printed on both sides

Efficient equipment

Use laser fax machines instead of thermal ones. Images on thermal paper fade and have to be copied for filing
Buy printers/photocopiers that can print on both sides of the paper
Use paperless faxing software so you can decide which incoming faxes you print off - no need to print junk faxes
